(3 pp., ALS)
Nov. 14, 1895 | My dear Sir: | I send the two | Japan copies, – one – the | Omar – being my own | private copy, without | number. Both these | books are now all sold | in the Japan edn. || They will, (as my | List provided for.) be | re-issued, but the second | edn may not be out | [p.2] for a month or more. | This copy of Omar | then is 1st edn. & | you might mark it | X to signify it was | the publisher’s own | copy. A copy of the 2d will do me | just as well. || I am glad you like | this new form, for | I confess it strikes | me as by far the | best I have yet made. | The best of it is both | books are going | rapidly, and the | [p.3] second edn of each | is assured. Of course | the Bibelot Series | stops as stated, and | will not be new edn [sic] | made. | The Old World Series | I planned, so as to | give all who would | buy a chance at | books in editions | that were de luxe | in all except price. | Very truly yours, | T B Mosher [on Mosher’s stationary, inserted in Japan vellum copy of the Rubáiyát marked “X”]
